  1. The study itself is interesting, as it focuses primarily on access to healthcare and much less on the quality of healthcare itself (where the US performs very well). The big takeaway for me here outside of the obvious is that maternal care needs a big boost.

    The study is lacking in explanation is many items related to mortality though. Obesity is a very huge concern in the US, and this would almost certainly persist even with Universal Healthcare. As such this seems to be a limiting factor in their conclusions.

  2. Needs to be law

    One, none of the health care/health insurance companies can be publicly traded. (Literal profit over people’s misery and death)

    Two, none of the health care/health insurance companies are for profit.

    Three, a written estimate should be provided beforehand, just like any service provider. if services go 10% or more overestimate, you better provide solid legal evidence. Nearly every industry does this for consumer protection, why healthcare does not, it is asinine.
