  1. Aspartame is an artificial sweetener, sold under brand names such as NutraSweet® and Equal®, that has been in use in the United States since the early 1980s. It is used in many foods and beverages because it is much sweeter than sugar…

    So what about splenda?

Some studies have shown that sucralose can change your gut microbiome by lowering the number of good bacteria by half.

  2. To note, these findings are just in rats, and also their own conclusion puts most of the risk in pre-natal and early post-natal exposures.

I grew up not being allowed to have artificial sugars. It wasn’t until really in high school I even had my first diet soda. Like anything, moderation shouldn’t cause any problems, and it’s probably a good idea to avoid them when pregnant and nursing.

  3. it’s funny when I read stuff like this because I always remember stuff from 15-20 years ago that had similar results. I heard a long time ago you should never eat equal.
